In the 1950s and 60s, Negeri Sembilan (NS) was reckoned as the major force in local and regional rugby tournaments.

 

nsw89.gifAt that time, the Commonwealth and Fijian military forces popularized rugby amongst the local youths. Their presences were appreciated as to redefine the game in the state.

In the 70s,  Commonwealth forces quit from the game for good. The quality and skills of the ruggers in the state deteriorated. Realizing the dilemma, a formation of NS and Malacca side was formed to eyeing on the National level competition. Despite, there were only a bunch of Negeri’s youth talented ruggers in the sport. They were very committed to polish their skills through competing in regular rugby tournaments.

In the late 70s, till early 80s, talented players joined Klang Valley clubs as to polish and maximize their potential skills in the game. In 1984, a group of origin ruggers formed the very first ever rugby club in the state and gathered ruggers that were majority from their home state. Among of them is Mr. Abdul Jalil Borhanuddin and Mr. Zainal Abidin Isa (now both of them hold the top post of the club management). At the infancy stage, the club had mixture of 30 non-origin NS players who came from other states. The response on the newly formed club was overwhelming in the local rugby arena.
